Conceptualising Joji’s Smithereens Tour: Motion Graphics

 For this project, I created concert visuals for Joji’s Smithereens World Tour 2023 [hypothetical]. In this group project, each member created motion graphics for a song from his album. Our goal was to depict Joji's journey through love, betrayal, heartbreak, and healing across four songs. I focused on the visuals for the song "Sanctuary," aiming to capture the ethereal sense of falling in love.

The creative process involved a concept phase, moodboarding and storyboarding, through to design and final motion. Drawing inspiration from his lyrics and music video, I envisioned a surrealist space-travel environment. The deep blues and pinks evoked feelings of desire–sensations of floating space. Motifs such as stars, the moon, flowers, butterflies, and clouds were integrated to reflect the dreamy, romantic theme of the song.

The result is a three-minute video of concert visuals. This project included stage visualisation, concept development, and animation. It was a collaborative effort with contributions from Kezia Allisia, Alessia Panzeri, and Raven Francis, although the motion graphics presented here are my own work.
